COACHING PROGRAMS
My bespoke coaching programs support working parents on their own journey and focus around providing people with…
CLARITY, CONFIDENCE & CONNECTION
Returning to work following parental leave or an extended break
Many employees throughout their career take a period of parental leave from their organisation. Whether they are returning to work after their first, second or third child, returning after a short or extended period of time, there is no doubt that each experience will be different for everyone and may also be different each time they return.
From my own personal experience during two separate periods of parental leave and coaching others through their own transitions back to work, there are key elements to think about to ensure one can effectively anticipate and handle the challenges that lie ahead, culminating in practical action plans to support an effective return.
Navigating career and work with ever-evolving family priorities
As priorities shift at all stages of family life, there is often a need to re-think about how work and career fits into one’s overall life. Coaching can assist in getting clarity on what a shared family vision looks like and what changes they would like to make. It can help identify what may be creating obstacles or preventing them from moving forward and support them in defining what it will take to make the shifts they desire with the support and understanding from a coach who is a working parent living this every day.
CLARITY, CONFIDENCE & CONNECTION
Define what it is you now want in your life, what and who are important, and what it will take to get there. Be clear on your values, re-align your priorities, consider practicalities, and outline what it is you want to achieve during this next phase of life – it might be returning to work after parental leave, adjusting now your kids are at school or your kids may have left home to start their own adventure. Give yourself absolute CLARITY on what success and happiness means to you and take the space to consider how you want to navigate your career at each stage. With clarity comes calmness and focus.
There is no doubt CONFIDENCE plays a significant role throughout our careers and it can show up at different times, sometimes when you least expect it. It may be when you have taken extended time out of the workforce or perhaps when you are looking to change jobs or careers to align your work more seamlessly with home life. It is critical to reflect on who are you when you are at your absolute best and how do you ensure you live this every day? What plans do you have in place when you get knocked off course? Revisit your accomplishments and strengths and remind yourself of the impact of your contribution so that you take a positive and confident mindset into work.
CONNECTIONS matter and it is critical that you identify key people to support you and who will have a positive impact on your life. They provide us with security, encouragement, happiness, and a sense of purpose. Connections are key throughout all the different phases of your life – leading up to it, during, transitioning back to work after parental leave, and further on into the future once you have embedded yourself back into work and role.
